1.1 COMMUNICATION
Communication is a two-way process in which information or messages are communicated between individuals
through the use of words, symbols, signs, or behaviour. The components of communication that help us comprehend
others are speaking, listening, reading, and writing. To learn a language, these four fundamental skills must be
developed.
Listening Speaking Reading Writing
Being multilingual enables effective communication with people worldwide. Learning English, alongside one’s native
language, allows interaction with a broader audience. Strong communication skills are essential in today's world, playing
a crucial role in engaging with individuals and customers.
Communication requires a sender who encodes and transmits a message across a channel, and a receiver who decodes
the message and provides feedback. Feedback is vital in communication as it helps the sender determine whether the
receiver understood the message.
